Pontybrenin is a small Welsh town where mines and manufacturers have closed creating long term unemployment and drug abuse. However, it also has a reputation as the most haunted town in Europe which the local council has successfully exploited to create jobs in a unique tourism industry.    Following the Epiphany at Saint Madoc’s, the House of All Faith becomes a world-wide cult phenomena, declaring Thomas and Gemma Lewis to be Living Prophets.   Sir John Fomault, the Head of the Department of Security, has decided that the House and their Prophets have grown too powerful to remain unchecked. He unleashes a sinister press campaign against them and uses the right-wing media to set a trap for Gemma – with fatal results. Meanwhile, Department scientists successfully link twenty-five augmented men and women to a computer system to ‘far-see’ foreign installations, becoming the perfect vessel for One of the Aberration to fulfil its Purpose – the extinction of sentient life. Sir John kidnaps Amy Lewis, Thomas’s eldest daughter, and takes her to London for medical experimentation. With the whole world turning against them, Thomas and Gemma, their family and friends set out to rescue Amy and confront the Aberration, little realising that Thomas is about to take his last step on the Path Transcendent
